Performance of the first magnificent collection of bilingual artworks of poems of Qasidat Al Burdah in Arabic and English in the history of Islamic Written Arts.
Taking advantage of two decades of professional activity in the domain of non-Islamic calligraphy and Islamic arts in order to meet the need of the non-Muslim audience, we have succeeded to create 30 bilingual works consisting of a selection of the poems from the Qasidat Al Burdah.

The reputation of this elegy in all Islamic and non-Islamic countries and the necessity of the development and promotion of the prophetic moral virtues and lifestyle in those societies where there is no understanding of its Arabic content have rendered the performance of this project more necessary through a combination of Arabic poems and their English translation.

Some 700 years have passed since the appearance of this poetic work. In these seven centuries, great artists have created spectacular artworks in the rich field of Islamic calligraphy in different historical eras focusing on the original Arabic content using a combination of ornamental arts. These artists have not paid any attention to non-Muslim audience.

All works have been performed on hand-made papers and in different six colors dyed with natural colors.
The frame of each calligraphy set has been designed using decorated gold pieces arranged by professional piece-maker master on handmade papers in two marbled and gilded styles.
In preparation of the basic material of some of the calligraphies in the works, we have made use of the technique of gilding with 24 carat gold.

- Highlighting the importance of the status of translation techniques into different languages and promotion and persuasion of the activists in this domain for translation of Islamic works.
- Building a bridge for presentation of Islamic arts to non-Muslim audience by means of bilingual works.
- Reinforcing the interest in non-Muslim calligraphers for working on the translation of Islamic texts and creation of a competitive space among the non-Muslim artists in this field.

Thanks to the invitation to Sharjah and the participation in the Islamic Arts Festival held by H.H Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Bin Al Qasimi in 2014 and the visit paid by his highness to our pavilion of artworks under the auspices of Hisham Al Madhlum the art chief of the Islamic Arts Festival, the idea of this art project took form.
Between the years 2014 and 2020, this collection of bilingual works was prepared for the non-Muslim audience who do not have the ability of the understanding of Islamic artworks using the highest art level of Islamic and non-Islamic arts.

Creation of magnificent
handmade art frames
Creation of magnificent handmade art frames:
This collection of frames is made of Georgian beech of 61 widths, 74 lengths and 2.5 cm depth and without using any metal joinders.
Since the content of the works a selection of the poems derived from Egyptian poet Al-Burdah’s elegy, the frames have visually and formally been designed based on the arcs of the altars of the mosques as well as the architecture of the mosques of Cairo, Morocco and the Grand Mosque of Sheikh Zayed at UAE.
Each frame has six ornamental parts filled with the epoxy materials combined with 24 carat gold and this causes the frames to glitter in exhibition.
The main body of the frames is colored in white and in combination with the six ornamental parts of sides of the frame, it reminds its spiritual dimension, purity and significance.

Now this art collection contains 30 distiches of the whole elegy of Al Burdah. In the next phase of the project, this collection will be published in the form of a bilingual magnificent book consisting of all poems of Al Burdah’s elegy. This will be the first of its type providing the English translation of the elegy in calligraphical format for all the audience interested in the work.
